Another silly shadow ballad #5

One morning, as I went into the living room, I saw my shadow was already there. The shadow said, “Why don't you leave me in peace this morning?” I said, “No, I cannot because you are my shadow. And don’t be nosy!” “But I’m not nosy,” the shadow said. “No?” I asked. “Then maybe you are crazy?” Then my shadow replied, “No, no, no, no no, and by the way, I don't see the shadow of any psychiatrist around here now to tell if I’m crazy or not!” I hesitated a bit. Then I said, “No, but you forget, my friend, that I'm a clinical psychologist and if I turn my head, I can take away your shadow nose. I think you are quite nosy and that will put an end to that!” The shadow grew a little dimmer and responded, “No, I am definitely not nosy. I deeply disagree with that!” So, I said, “If you don’t stop this, being a psychologist, I will even put a mental diagnosis on you, my friend!” The shadow writhed on the floor and begged, ”Oh, please, oh please, don't do that to me! Please, you don’t need to call it depressed to know that I feel sad this morning!” I said, “Yes, I do that, and I will put another name to your sadness!” “But what good will that bring you?” the shadow said, “And no, no, no, don’t - I will sing a song for you!” Then it started to sing: Where do you go on a Saturday night? I go where the people they go. Where do you go on a saddening day? Where do the people go?

Where do you go on a longing day? I go where the people they go. Where do you go on a rainy day? Where do the people go?

Where do you go on a lucky day?

I go where the people they go? Where do you go on a lonely day? Where do the people go?

I looked a bit surprised. Then after a little while, the shadow finally stopped the singing. It was quiet in the room. The shadow stretched calmly on the floor. I broke the silence by saying, “But nobody speaks about the people, at least not in a good sense, nowadays.” The shadow pretended not to hear me. I moved a bit around and the shadow did its best effort to follow me. Then it responded from the floor, “I never do!” “But you just did!” “Did I?” the shadow answered. “Yes, you did - and I like it” I responded. The shadow gave a little jump of surprise and said quietly, “I like it, too.” I decided to let the shadow rest and rejoice in being a shadow for the rest of the day.
